At Stockyard Sandwich Co. is it our mission to be a staple in Spring Garden for high quality sustainable food at a reasonable price. We source ingredients from local farms for a seasonal menu while showcasing fine dining techniques in a laid back atmosphere. We aim to reduce waste by creating daily specials utilizing off cuts from whole animals and seasonal produce.
Stockyard is the brainchild Chefs Will Lindsay and Mike Metzger. Will and Mike began cooking at various restaurants in Philadelphia after attending culinary school. They met while cooking at the White Dog Cafe in University City, where they quickly bonded over their love of butchering and really bad singing. They frequently discussed their vision for their own restaurant, combining the use of whole animals and fine dining techniques with a casual feel and more bad singing. Following the White Dog, Will moved on to Mercato and then Morimoto, Mike went on to cook at Pumpkin and Kensington Quarters. They continued to talk about their dream of opening a restaurant and decided in Fall 2015 to make it a reality. After months of planning, building and about a million visits to the permit office, Stockyard opened its doors in October 2016.
